2nd December 2009 The Landmark Hotel. The Ratlings Christmas Party is an exciting evening, at which the Queen Ratling announces the new Queen Ratling and her Officers for the following year. This year however there was a new award, The “P.Q. Joanne Hall Jesters Award” sponsored by P.Q. Joanne’s close friend Richard Mann. Queen Ratling Susannah was totally astounded as she opened the envelope with the 1st recipient’s name…Queen Ratling Susannah Levene.

Past Prince Rat Joe Pasquale, one of TV’s most loved comedians and Queen Ratling Susannah Levene at the Water Rats Ball, Susannah has been a Council Member of the Theatrical Management Association of GB since 2006 and currently General Manager of Yellow Earth Theatre. Joe is rehearsing for the Panto “Sleeping Beauty” at The Hippodrome in Birmingham.

Queen Ratling Susannah is definitely no” Sleeping” Beauty, She has over 25 years experience working in all aspects of the theatre i.e. Stage Management, Company Manager. She was completely at home chatting to Water Rat Nicko McBrain, the fun loving, fantastic drummer from Iron Maiden.

		4th November 2009 Queen Ratling was delighted to have three new Baby Ratlings to install during her year as Queen, that makes Nine new initiates in the GOLR’s 80th year. BR Vikki Goodwin, QR Susannah Levene, BR Lesley Cox and BR Hazel Stuart.

In the Ratlings calendar this Annual Ball is their special evening and the end of the year for Queen Ratling Susannah. Tonight was extra special as we end the 80th year celebrations of the Grand Order of Lady Ratlings. Hostess for the Ball, Queen Ratling Susannah with her Consort Husband, the handsome Rabbi Neil Kraft.

Two special Lady Ratlings in Queen Susannah’s year have to be Scribe P.Q. Sharon Maxim, who organised this lovely Ball together with every Ratling event in the year.

Queen’s best friend Ratling Joanne Benjamin who prearranged some special outside events and was an enormous support through Susannah’s year.

Guests of Honour, TV’s Presenter, Christopher Biggins and a truly iconic Star of TV, Radio, Singer the one and only Cilla Black.

Prince Rat Derek Martin ”Charlie Slater" in Eastenders “with Queen Susannah and Consort Rabbi Neil Kraft.

The evening started with the “walk in“ of Queen Ratling, her Consort Rabbi Neil and guests of honour Christopher Biggins and Cilla Black.

Followed by the Anthem, and to the surprise of all the Ratlings, the GOLR’s very own Trumpeter, still recovering from an operation, came on and played so wonderfully that she got a standing ovation. The lady in question, the brilliant musician, P.O. Joan Hinde.

The original cartoon by Jon Watkins which was used for the 2009 Ball Brochure, was presented to our Queen Susannah by King Rat Graham Cole.

“Ratling of the year” Queen Susannah proudly presents the award to Ratling Dee Scott for her amazing costumes for the Cabaret every year.

The team for the Cabaret was “Fiddler on the Roof” and the beautiful Ratling Victoria Yellop played her violin so wonderfully.

The Ratlings did some amazing routines including the Broom Dance.

Queen Susannah was both surprised and delighted, when her eldest son Elie was featured with P.O. Pamela Craine in The Broom routine.

The Cabaret was produced by Dame P.Q. Audrey Maye and choreographed by P.Q. Babs Bruce.

12th October 2009 Women of the Year Lunch Queen Ratling, Susannah Levene with the great British singer songwriter, Joan Armatrading MBE, President of the Women of the Year Lunch . Joan is also the first female UK artist to be nominated for a Grammy in the blues category.

A very special day and Lodge for the Ratlings. The installation of the Twelfth Dame of the Order, Past Queen Audrey Maye. Audrey is a talented actress, director and producer etc, and was elected Queen Ratling in 1973. She was voted the Ratling of the year in 1995,for her support, love and hard work for the Ratlings. The beautiful ceremony was preformed by Queen Ratling Susannah, supported by Sixteen Past Queens and a full house of Sister Ratlings. Scribe P.Q. Sharon Maxim arranged a champagne reception at The Landmark Hotel to honour the 12th Dame of the Grand Order of Lady Ratlings in 80 years…Dame Past Queen Audrey Maye.

Queen Ratling Susannah Levene having presented the 2009 Carmen Silvera Award to the truly multi talented star of Stage, Screen and Television, Novelist Columnist, and Comedian, She was awarded the Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Comedy Performance in 1985 and was awarded the C.B.E. (Commander of the British Empire) in the 1999 Queen's New Years Honours List for her services to drama. she is the one and only Maureen Lipman CBE.

Queen Ratling Susannah had another surprise up her sleeve, this time it was the GOLR's Badge of Merit Award, This award is given as a special "Thank You" to supporters of long standing. The recipients are unanimously voted on by the Ratlings. Queen Ratling was thrilled to present the Awards to; W.R. Jim Marshall, OBE and C.R. John Ratcliff CBE.

April 24th 2009 Denville Hall Queen Ratling Susannah Levene on a special visit to Denville Hall where she meets up with the great actress Daphne Oxenford, the voice of "Listen with Mother", and star of stage and TV. Denville Hall is available to people aged over 70 who have worked professionally as actors, from anywhere in the UK. If there is no waiting list of actors, then they may be able to help those from other theatrical professions.

		April 22nd 2009 Roswyn House. Queen Ratling Susannah Levene and her Sister Ratlings at the GOLR’s Archives day party. It was an opportunity for the Ratlings to take a trip down memory lane, looking in wonderment through the Photo Albums and memorabilia that go back over the past 80 years. Most important, being grateful to the founder members for the legacy of comradeship and love that’s been passed down throughout the years, making the GOLR a unique organization.

Fundraising is something The Grand Order of Lady Ratlings do with great enthusiasm. Their Show at the weekend was no exception, with the cast consisting of; Ratlings, Julie Rogers and Victoria Yellop, guests Steve Hewlett, Michael Howe, Paul Jameswith Billy Nutt and Don Maclean, plus The Lady Ratlings 'Les Girls', and The Barbara Speake Stage School.

25th March 2009 Sessions House, London. Queen Ratling Susannah Levene performed a lovely Initiation service at Lodge today. The new Baby Ratlings Laura Cole and Jacquie Street, having posed for a photograph with Queen Susannah, they then joined all their Sister Ratlings for a Tea Party with Laura’s Mother, Ratling Cherry and her Dad, King Rat Graham Cole.

		8th March 2009 Grosvenor House Hotel Park Lane London. “The Olivier Awards” A glittering evening attended by the GOLR’s Queen Ratling Susannah Levene with the Lord Mayor of Westminster Louise Hyams The Laurence Olivier Awards were established in 1976 as The Society of West End Theatre Awards, and Lord Olivier agreed to have his name associated with them in 1984. The Society’s Special Award: 2009 went to the amazing Sir Alan Ayckbourn; Sir Alan has had at least 40 of his plays produced in London.

15th February 2009 The C.A.A. Annual Ball The Royal Lancaster Hotel, London. Queen Ratling Susannah Levene was our glamorous representative and special guest at the “Concert Artistes Association” Ball.

Queen Doreen had a very special task to carry out. She had asked her beautiful Guest Joanna if she would do the honours of presenting the first of the “Carmen Silvera Awards”, in memory of our Past Queen Carmen. Joanna was in for a big surprise as Queen Doreen handed her the envelope with the recipients name inside.

Joanna’s face tells the story; it was her own name on the Card. What a well deserved recipient for the first Award. P.Q. Carmen would have whole heartedly approved.

		Carmen Silvera was Queen Ratling In 1997. The delightful “ALLO ‘ALLO! “Actress was such a wonderful Lady and did so much for Charity. It was not surprising that when her agent and friend Barry Burnett suggested an Award in her name, it was met with great enthusiasm by the Order. Where better to introduce the Award than at the GOLR Cup of Kindness Charity Luncheon. President of the COK P.O. Barbara Windsor OBE, Barry Burnett and Joanna Lumley.

6th April 2008 The Dame Past Queen Malka Elvin “ Ratling of the Year Award”. This very special award was set up by Dame Malka in 1993 to honour a Ratling for outstanding services to the G.O.L.R. The 2007 recipient, Scribe Ratling P.Q. Sharon Maxim presents the refurbished plaque to 1st Guard Billie Roper, the new Ratling of the Year for 2008.

It was not surprising that the Stars turned out for Queen Ratling Beryl’s Ball. As a double act, Tom & Beryl have been in show biz for many years and have shared the Bills with some of our greatest stars such as; The Beatles, Max Bygraves, Arthur Askey, Johnny Ray, Dickie Henderson, Morecambe & Wise to name just a few.

		Queen’s Guest of Honour for the evening was the lovely Actress Emma Samms, Val Doonican, Queen B., her handsome Consort, Husband Water Rat Tom Plummer, Lynn Doonican and Alan Rogers.

The Grand Order of Water Rats “Tribute Lunch” to Dame Vera Lynn on her 90th Birthday.Queen Ratling Beryl presented Ratling Dame Vera with a crystal stand, on behalf of the GOLR.

		With so many Lady Ratlings attending this splendid function it was an ideal opportunity also for the Ratlings to present Queen Beryl with a replacement “Queens Brooch” for one that was lost in 2006. Preceptor P.Q. Sharon Maxim proudly pinned the brooch on Queen Ratling Beryl.

This year recipient was Preceptor P.Q. Sharon Maxim. After the announcement and to a standing ovation, P.Q. Sharon was presented with the award by B.O.M. Mel Tillman. Mel remains enthusiastically involved in this, his late wife’s Award.

as did “The Master of Dance” the one and only Wayne Sleep.

Queen Ratling Val Fontaine hosted a superb evening at the Royal Lancaster Hotel with her Consort Water Rat Udo Fontaine. Here we have Queen Ratling and Udo making a patriotic toast to some of her special top table guests; P.K.R. Keith Simmons, Jane Hayes, and the great actor the current King Rat, Melvyn Hayes.

		The festivities continued in the "Cabaret” here we have Past Queen Doreen Hermitage, W. Rat Chris Emmett, Ratling Tricia Hayes and P. K. Rat Roy Hudd O.B.E. doing their rendition of “Land of Hope and Glory”.

		2004 O.B.E. at Buckingham Palace O.B.E. Honours for our Sister Ratling…. Sonia Meaden for her contribution to Tourism and Charity. Sonia with two of her four beautiful daughters Gail (on left) husband Brian and Cass. The two other girls Deborah and Emma were treated to a Literary at the Dorchester with Joannah Lumley and William Haigh before they all got together for the celebrations.

November 24th 2004 Plasterers Hall, London Wall. Queen Marsha Rae organised "A Special Royal Luncheon" with HRH Prince Phillip in aid of the G.O.L.R's "Cup of Kindness" and "The Variety Club of Great Britain". HRH Prince Phillip, Queen Ratling Marsha Rae and John Ratcliff, are three of the most tireless workers for Charity.

GOLR Annual Ball, "ROARING BACK TO THE TWENTIES"

American born Queen Ratling Marsha Rae Ratcliff adds a touch of her native country to the 2004 Ball Cabaret, with a wonderful cast from the West End Show "Chicago". Also on the bill was the great singer and dancer Michael Danso, who flew in from the USA especially for his friend Marsha Rae. The dress code for the evening was obviously "The Roaring Twenties".

	Queen Marsha Rae is absolutely thrilled when Gloria Hunniford announces that Consort John has flown her Son Larry and Daughter Teresa in from the USA as a special surprise.

September 12th 2004 A famous Policeman opens the Lady Ratlings Annual Bazaar at "Roswyn". Water Rat Graham Cole alias P.C. 		September 5th 2004 Eleven sporting Lady Ratlings take on a challenge in Hyde Park, to raise funds for their "Cup of Kindness" Charity in "The Flora Light Challenge for Women 2004". 		1974’s Queen Ratling Polly Ward Polly possessed a flawless thespian pedigree. Her father was one of the Poluski brothers, from a theatrical and circus family going back to Shakespeare's time. Her mother, Winnifred Ward, was a famous music hall artist and male impersonator who died in 1975 at the age of 95. Polly's maternal uncle was character actor Gus McNaughton .Her grandmother, Nellie Waite, worked for many years with Henry Irving. And Polly Ward's aunt (or great-aunt) was the venerated actress Marie Lloyd. From the Film “Feather Your Nest” with the amazing George Formby.

1955 Princess Theatre Torquay. P.Q. Miriam Ginnett has spent most of her life in Show Business, starting her career as part of her family’s act. Miriam soon devised a solo act with her dog Sandy. She successfully toured many of the country’s top Theatres as “Mandy and Sandy” (Picture) Miriam then met her future Husband W.R. Frank Ginnett, whose family history in showbiz went back over five generations in the circus world. It wasn’t long before the beautiful Miriam joined Frank’s act “Franks Fox Terriers” and they continued to tour in all the top Variety Shown both here and abroad Their careers continued to flourish for many more years, and they remain highly respected by all in Showbiz.
